My faith story: I grew up believing that church and Christianity and Jesus were pretty much just good, nice things you were supposed to go to or believe in because, well, you were supposed to. Half way through high school though all that got shook up when I met Jesus in a very real way and discovered that being a Christian was way more than ‘supposed to’ and obligations. It is an invitation to get to know the God of the universe who loves us with a love we just can’t get enough of and find ourselves living the best kind of life imaginable through that relationship! The last 8 years of my life have been an incredible journey, filled with its share of joys and pain, but in everything the company of a Jesus that I just can’t get enough of.
What brought me to UCUMC: Gernie (my grandma). I have been here since we opened.
What I like most about my ministry here: love being apart of something bigger than myself; to be joined to a community of people committed to pursuing Jesus anywhere, in anyway, and in everything. Oh, and on a more serious and spiritually specific note… the dodgeball. You haven’t played dodgeball until you’ve played dodgeball at EPIC. Think I’m kidding? Well I guess you’ll just have to come check it out!
What's your greatest challenge: Hmm…greatest challenge…I am challenged by a lot of things. For instance, it seems absolutely impossible for me to keep my car clean. I guess this could be seen as a challenge. Oh, and the game Jenga. My hands shake too much and the pressure is unbearable. There, now you know two of my greatest weaknesses. Oh, and I can’t say no to dodgeball. My wife says this is a challenge as well. Now that I’m thinking about it, I’m pretty sure she thinks I’m a challenge period…
What's in your iPod: I’ve been listening a lot to a band called Something Like Silas. They now go by the name Future of Forestry but the original album, Divine Invitation, will forever be one of my favorite CDs ever.
What do I like most to do on my day off: Wait a minute…we’re supposed to have days off? Just kidding, I love to read (for some reason people start laughing when they hear that), play sports, camp, fish, lift weights, and hang out with my wife (I saved the best for last).
Three words I'd use to describe yourself: Timid. Quiet. Reserved. :o)
Family info: I’ve been married now for four years to my beautiful and awesome wife Anna, we adopted our daughter, Alyssa, in 2009 who is now four and we have a wonderful extended family both near to our home and abroad.
